  4. What this software does
  5. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  7. This application is a very simple 3D function (surface)
  8. plotter. It takes as input a text file containing the x, y,
  9. and z data for a function of the form z=f(x,y), and draws a
  10. 3D view of the function. This version is very dumb and does
  11. not allow any choice in how the graph is displayed. Better
  12. things will emerge in the course of time, I hope.

  14. Use !3DFnEdit to produce data files of BASIC type functions
  15. in the correct format for !Surface to understand.
  16.  
  17. If !3DFnEdit and !Surface are active at the same time, then
  18. the data files can be passed back and forwards
  19. "transparently" as far as the user is concerned, the Wimp
  20. message system doing all the work.

  22. Running !Surface

  25. Double clicking on the !Surface icon in a directory viewer
  26. will install its icon on the icon bar. A data file
  27. (originally produced by !3DFnEdit) can be loaded by drag and
  28. drop. The display window will open when the data is loaded.
  29. Data can also be passed in directly from !3DFnEdit. Any new
  30. data file will overwrite the surface being displayed.

  33. !BubbleHelp.

  38. the public domain, but remains the copyright of the author,
  39. Chris Johnson, and is released as Shareware only, and should
  40. not be posted on bulletin boards or circulated on any public
  41. domain software discs, except by prior and express agreement
  42. with the author.

  44. Anyone obtaining this software other than from the author,
  45. and making use of the software other than for trial
  46. purposes, is requested to register with the author by
  47. sending a minimum of £3. All registered users will be
  48. informed from time to time of any significant improvements
  49. or 'bug' fixes and will be entitled to upgraded versions of
  50. the software free of charge at any time by sending a blank
  51. disc, an SAE and sufficient to cover return postage. A
  52. single registration will cover use of the complete suite of
  53. graphing software produced by the author.
